The annual Tour-n-Trek to Uttaranchal for 5th and 6th-grade students kicked off on October 8th, 2023. Excitement filled the air as 17 students left the school campus after breakfast, bound for Bangalore airport. Boarding the 1 pm flight, we touched down at Dehradun’s Jollygrant airport by 4 pm. The day concluded with a warm dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel. The journey had begun, promising a week of adventure and exploration in the picturesque landscapes of Uttaranchal.
On the second day of our trip, we travelled from Dehradun to Dhanaulti. A scenic 2 hours and 30 minutes’ drive brought the spirited group to the heart of adventure. After having breakfast, we headed straight to Dhanaulti. The day was packed with excitement as the students engaged in thrilling adventure activities like zip-lining, flying fox, and sky cycling. As the sun began to set, we made our way back to the hotel. A delicious dinner awaited us, marking the end of an adventurous day, and we settled in for a restful overnight stay.
On Day 3, the students embarked on a trek to Surkanda Devi Temple, covering a distance of 2 kilometres. The journey was filled with awe-inspiring moments as they reached the sacred temple. Following a hearty lunch, the adventure continued with a visit to a potato farm, providing a glimpse into the local agricultural practices.
The day concluded with a trip to the Eco Park, offering panoramic views that left a lasting impression on the young minds. It was a day of exploration, learning, and connecting with the natural beauty of the surroundings.
On Day 4, we journeyed from Dhanaulti to Mussoorie, a drive taking approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Our first stops in Mussoorie included the charming Company Garden, where we immersed ourselves in the beauty of nature. Later, we explored the famous Mall Road at, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and perhaps some local treats. It was a day of scenic drives and leisurely strolls through the heart of Mussoorie.
On Day 5, our exploration in Mussoorie took us to the breath-taking Kempty Falls, where water cascades from a height of 40 feet, creating a picturesque scene. Nestled on the Dehradun-Mussoorie road, it was a beautiful spot to marvel at nature’s wonders. Additionally, we celebrated Varun’s birthday, adding joy and festivity to our day of sightseeing in the scenic landscapes of Mussoorie.
On the seventh day, our journey concluded as we headed back to SBA. After an early lunch, we boarded a flight from Dehradun airport to Bengaluru. The nightfall greeted us as we arrived at SBA, concluding our adventure. Dinner from McDonald’s added a familiar touch, marking the end of a memorable trip.
Students went back overwhelmed and happy as the tour n trek fostered a sense of unity, sharing and caring among them. They learnt about the importance of physical fitness, teamwork & collaboration skills through group activities and adventure challenges. There was increased awareness and appreciation for nature & the environment as they learnt about flora and fauna, environmental conservation, and the importance of sustainable practices.
They appreciated about self-discovery and personal growth by stepping out of their comfort zone. They understood the importance of resilience & adaptability in dealing with new and challenging situations. They were all hopeful to apply their experiences in classroom learning. They understood the importance awareness of personal safety in outdoor settings and adhered to safety protocols during travel. Overall it was a memorable trip to cherish
